Amy Nylund, LCSW
Welcome! I’m Amy — a mom and a therapist who specializes in supporting clients with anxiety, OCD, pregnancy/postpartum related concerns, and life transitions. I also work with children ages 11+ experiencing a variety of concerns, and am available to support families of children of all ages via caregiver coaching.
I received my undergraduate degree from The College of William & Mary and my Master of Social Work from Boston College. Throughout my career, I have gained experience across a variety of settings, including inpatient care at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA and school social work within Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia. Most of my professional experience, however, has been in outpatient therapy, where I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults.
Amy Nylund Psychotherapy, LLC is a fully virtual private practice serving clients in Virginia. Click around to discover if we might be a good fit to work together — or just shoot me an email!
The Process
Free 15 Minute Consult
Call or email me. We'll get you on the books! This is a chance for me to make sure I'm the best provider to meet your needs, and for you to ask any questions you have before we get started.
Intake Assessment
During this session we will explore your concerns in more detail, identify goals, and figure out how I can best support you.
Treatment
Typically, my clients begin with weekly sessions. Many clients see me for 8-20 sessions. Some may have a shorter course of treatment, or others prefer longer term supportive therapy. We'll work together to find the best fit for you.
The Details
Research tells us that two factors drive client outcomes - the therapist/client relationship, and the specific therapy modalities used throughout treatment. I'm super passionate about both. Once we determine we're a good fit, we'll decide together what therapeutic model or models make most sense for you. This decision is based on your specific goals and what the literature has to say about the model that matches your concerns best.
Frequently Asked Questions
What types of therapy do you offer?
I support clients with anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), pregnancy-related and postpartum mental health conditions, and parenting concerns. I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and young families. In my counseling sessions, I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
What is your availability? How do I schedule a session?
I see clients on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Morning, afternoon, and evening slots are available. We'll begin with a free 15 minute consultation call to confirm that we're a good fit. Email me to get your consult scheduled!
Do you accept insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider. I also offer a limited number of reduced fee slots on my caseload. Check with your insurance plan - they may provide out-of-network benefits, and I can provide you with a superbill to assist with this.
What are your fees?
An intake session is $200. For adults, subsequent sessions are $165. For children, subsequent sessions are $180. Higher rates for children reflect included services like parent check-ins and collateral communication with schools, pediatricians, etc.
